Our end-product is only as strong as our understanding of the people it needs to serve. That’s why our Exploration phase is so robust. It’s where our design teams capture valuable data and make critical observations that shape the end-product.
During Exploration, our Design Researchers are in their element. It’s their mission to gather as much data and as many insights as possible, so Electronic Ink’s usability design solutions will work for real people.
Within our Insight Labs, they use time-tested research methods including card sorting, affinity diagramming, and user interviews that gather feedback from potential users. Our Design Researchers also use cutting-edge technology, like eye tracking, to learn exactly what motivates and challenges people in your target audience.
Design Researchers evaluate existing systems with design and usability assessments that can include comprehensive usability testing. They assess the efficacy of existing devices and interfaces through rigorous product analysis.
But not all Exploration is performed in-house. Keen observation in the field is a crucial component.
In complex environments, our usability design teams crave first-hand observation. They go on-site to conduct ethnographic field studies or contextual inquiries — visits to real-world environments where they shadow people as they use systems and perform tasks in real-time.
Exploration guarantees that Electronic Ink builds its solutions from an understanding of what people need.
