Position: Senior Human Factors Analyst

Position Description

Electronic Ink is the leading design firm dedicated to creating and refining the experience for users interacting with digital products. From its offices in New York, Philadelphia, London and Raleigh, Electronic Ink improves the design and usability of software applications, enterprise software and browser-based applications.

We are seeking a Senior Human Factors Analyst to guide our clients’ understanding of their end users within the application design process.

Overall Responsibility

A Senior Human Factors Analyst is responsible for gathering user requirements, applying this information to the design process and validating the usability of the resulting user interface. It is critical that the senior analyst is able to quickly and effectively communicate actionable recommendations (both verbal and written) to design teams. The Analyst will represent Electronic Ink in a professional manner and understand the goals of the client and the project.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Understand how people use technology through observation and analyses.
• Improve user experiences and user interfaces to make designs and processes more user centered.
• Travel to customer sites to gather user requirements through contextual interviews and observation.
• Identify and profile end users and their requirements.
• Conduct competitive and heuristic usability analysis.
• Conduct usability walk-throughs and usability testing studies.
• Analyze resulting data and provide written reports of findings in accordance with our deliverable templates.
• Perform the above within allocated budget and timeframes.

Skills

• Experience in research and experimental design.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with data presentation tools (Visio, PowerPoint).
• Passion for usability and an advocate for the user.
• Able to mentor junior members of the team.
• Detail oriented.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years experience in user research and/or usability testing. Completed research projects that demonstrate an application of research methods to collect and analyze usability data.
• Experience working in a consulting environment.

Educational Requirements

Advanced degree and background in human computer interaction, engineering, psychology, anthropology, communication, or related area.
