There’s a 2006 Enterprising Women of the Year Winner Right Here in Philadelphia...

January 23, 2006

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Recognized for her Business Leadership, Entrepreneurial Success, and Tireless Community Service, Electronic Ink’s Johanna Hambrose takes the prize with 23 Outstanding Business Women across America.

Johanna Hambrose, President of Electronic Ink, Philadelphia PA, has been named an “Enterprising Women of the Year” in Enterprise Magazine’s 4th Annual tribute to outstanding women entrepreneurs. She will be honored with her other colleagues at a dinner and reception on Friday, Feb. 24 at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Lake Buena Vista, FL. Walt Disney World is the premiere sponsor of the evening reception, and UPS is a platinum event sponsor.

15 Years of Tested Mettle

“This is a humbling honor after 15 years of hard work and character building experiences”, says Hambrose. “I look back with 20/20 vision and see a company that has changed dramatically. We had to overcome some early challenges and learn to become customer–focused and to deliver value to a customer no matter what their constraints. I think this is the key to our success. This award reflects the hard work of all the Electronic Ink staff – because they actually are the ones to bring the value to the customer.”

When asked what advice she wanted to share with other women in business, Johanna says, “Follow your instincts! In the early days we were too cautious. It took me a while to learn that it was okay to charge ahead on my gut feelings. That’s what comes with experience.”

“I have some advice for young women who are moving into management”, she adds, “Make other women your allies”.
